Dr. Kratzer is a North Carolina native. He attended NC State University with a degree in Zoology, and completed his medical education at The Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine completing his degree in 1978. He served an externship at Forkosh Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois, and with Dr. Barry Johnson in Winston Salem, North Carolina, Dr. Paul Sheitel in Baltimore, Maryland, and with Dr. Lawrence Woodhams in Coldwater, Michigan. He won the Illinois College of Podatric Medicine’s Award for Highest Proficiency in Orthopaedic Diagnosis and Treatment. After completion of training, Dr. Kratzer was a commissioned officer in the National Health Services Corp, US Public Health Services; and was a consultant for them, and was in private practice in Kinston, Goldsboro, and Greenville prior to coming to Raleigh Orthopaedic in 1998.
Dr. Kratzer has served for 20+ years as a delegate to the American Podiatric Medical Association’s House of Delegates, and serves on both the Resolutions Committee and as the liaison for 10 states as a member of the Legislative Committee. He serves North Carolina as its APMAPAC representative and has been on the Board of Trustees. In 1992, Dr. Kratzer was selected as Podiatrist of the Year by the North Carolina Foot and Ankle Society, the only non-president to ever win the award.
Dr. Kratzer enjoys golf, traveling for fun, watching his beloved NC State Wolfpack, and sharing time with his family and extended family.
