Meet Dr. McLynn- Orthopedic Neck and Back Specialist in NC

Dr. Ryan P. McLynn is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in spine surgery.

Dr. McLynn grew up in Alpharetta, GA, and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Georgia with honors in Biology and Psychology. He then completed medical school and a Master of Health Science degree at Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. McLynn completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and received the Resident Scholar of the Year award three times. After residency, he completed a fellowship in orthopedic spine surgery at the University of California San Diego, training in the full breadth of spine care with an emphasis on complex spine surgery.

Dr. McLynn specializes in non-surgical and surgical treatment of the entire spine (including cervical, thoracic, and lumbar). He prefers to use non-surgical or less invasive treatment options whenever appropriate but is also adept at complex, open spine surgery when needed. Dr. McLynn believes strongly in getting to know his patients and working with them to choose the best possible treatment plan.

Dr. McLynn has authored and co-authored many peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on a variety of spine topics. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, the North American Spine Society, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and has received the AO Global Spine Diploma. Outside of work, Dr. McLynn enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, playing golf and tennis, cooking, and traveling.
