Raleigh Orthopaedic is proud to enter into our 18th season as the Official Team Physicians for the Carolina Hurricanes Professional Hockey Team. Through the partnership, Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic will continue to provide the highest quality of orthopaedic care to all Hurricanes player’s and their families, the Hurricanes staff and the fans.
Dr. William M. Isbell has served as Head Orthopaedic Team Physician since 2006, and Dr. Joseph U. Barker has served as Assistant Orthopaedic Team Physician since 2010. Together they will serve as Co-Head Team Orthopaedic Surgeons for the 2017-18 season to provide musculoskeletal coverage.
As the Team Physicians, they will work will work alongside the Carolina Hurricanes Head Athletic Trainer, Doug Bennett, and Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, Bill Burniston, to assess players and determine treatment options for musculoskeletal problems. They attend all 41 home games, and provide ongoing medical care on a day-to-day basis.
Drs. Isbell and Barker are board-certified, fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeons specializing in sports medicine and shoulder surgery. They have a vast amount of knowledge working with elite athletes, and bring this same expertise to athletes of all levels to get them back to the activities they enjoy most.
