March is National Athletic Training month and the theme for this year is “Compassionate Care for All”. To me, this is a very accurate theme for Athletic Trainers because we work in such a variety of fields and impact so many different patients. Athletic Trainers are employed everywhere from high school/college/professional sports teams, to physical therapy locations/doctors office and even performance groups such as Cirque Du Soleil. Athletic Trainers are nationally certified and state licensed medical professionals who oversee the diagnosis, treatment, and care of orthopedic injuries.
At Raleigh Orthopaedic we employ Athletic Trainers to serve in many different roles from Therapy Aides, to Work Conditioning Specialist, and Clinical Assistants to Orthopedic Doctors and Physical Therapists. We also are very involved in providing sports medicine coverage in the community, working at events from marathon/half marathon/5Ks to youth and high school athletics.
