Dr. Bradley Vaughn One of 31 Surgeons Nationwide to Receive Perfect Quality Score

September 29, 2017 | Bradley K. Vaughn, MD, FACS

Raleigh Orthopaedic Total Joint Surgeon Received a Perfect MPIRICA Quality Score Based on Measures Most Important to Patients Having Surgery

Dr. Bradley Vaughn, was one of 31 surgeons nationwide and the only physician in the Triangle to receive a perfect MPIRICA Quality Score of 800. In addition, he was one of three surgeons nationwide with a perfect score of 800 for hip procedures

The MPIRICA Quality Score is an intuitive, scientifically valid way to compare the past performance of surgical providers in every region in America.  The quality score analyzed medical claims from over 100,000 surgeons and almost 5,000 hospitals across the county.  The Quality Score rates how hospitals and surgeons have performed on specific procedures, on a scale of 100 (sub-optimal care) to 800 (superior care).  The MPIRICA Quality Score incorporates measures of quality that are most important to patients having surgery: mortality, major complications, readmissions and ER visits. The data was evaluated from the time patients are admitted, through 90 days after they are discharged.

“I appreciate this recognition.  My team and I strive to provide all our patients with the best possible care,” said Dr. Bradley Vaughn.  “These surveys should never be used by themselves, but can augment other information that patients have.  It is important to do your homework, ask around, and always confer with your primary care physician.”
