Dr. Watters

Tyler Steven Watters, MD of Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic was lead author for an article recently published in the June, 2017 issue of the Journal of Arthroplasty, a peer-reviewed journal that brings together the clinical and scientific foundations for joint replacement.

The study, “Porous-Coated Metaphyseal Sleeves for Severe Femoral and Tibial Bone Loss in Revision Total Knee Arthroplasty,” was conducted by Dr. Watters and his colleagues at the Colorado Joint Replacement Center to evaluate the midterm results of stepped, porous-coated metaphyseal sleeves in revision TKA in the setting of severe bone loss. This large retrospective series illustrates the utility of porous metaphyseal sleeves in revision TKA with a low rate of intraoperative complications, excellent osteointegration, and long-term fixation.

Dr. Watters specializes in adult reconstructive joint replacement surgery, focusing on total hip replacement, total knee replacement, partial knee replacement, and revision surgery. Dr. Watters is skilled in multiple approaches for total hip replacement, including the direct anterior approach, an alternative approach to conventional hip replacement surgery that potentially allows for faster recovery.
