Raleigh Orthopaedic is proud to continue as Official Team Physician for Sanderson High School

Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic has maintained a strong relationship with Sanderson High School as official team physician since the early 1990s.  Dr. David Boone has served as volunteer Head Team Physician since 1994. He will continue to assist  Head Athletic Trainer, Deirdre Johnson, with orthopaedic injuries at Sanderson High School during the upcoming school year.  Dr. Boone is also a team physician for N.C. State University.

Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic also serves as the official team physician for the NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes, North Carolina State University and five other local high schools, including: Broughton High School, Garner Magnet High School, Southeast Raleigh High School and South Garner High School. The physicians at Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic are experts in the field of sports medicine, and have the knowledge and experience to treat athletes of all ages and skill.

About Dr. Boone:
Dr. David Boone is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon who is fellowship trained in  foot and ankle surgery.  He also has subspecialty board certification in orthopaedic sports medicine.  His practice focuses on all conditions of the foot and ankle including fractures, reconstructive procedures, and sports injuries of the foot and ankle.

After graduating from Sanderson High School in 1979, he went to Davidson College and received his medical school degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He did his orthopaedic residency at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and he did a year of fellowship training in Foot and Ankle Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He joined Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic in  1994.

Dr. Boone has presented research and instructional lectures at state and national meetings and he is published in the orthopaedic literature. During his orthopaedic career in Raleigh, Dr. Boone has served as chairman of the orthopaedic departments at both WakeMed and Rex Hospital, and from 2006-2007, he served as president of the North Carolina Orthopaedic Association.   He is currently president of Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic and has served in that role since 2016.
