Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic is proud to announce the addition of three fellowship-trained surgeons to the practice, Dr. Chambers, Dr. James, and Dr. Saitta. Our specialty-trained physicians are committed to providing the highest quality musculoskeletal care available in the Triangle and surrounding regions of central North Carolina.

Stephen Chambers, MD

Hand, Wrist, and Elbow Surgery

Dr. Stephen Chambers is a fellowship-trained upper extremity orthopedic surgeon specializing in conditions affecting the hand, wrist, and elbow in both pediatric and adult patients. His clinical interests include upper extremity trauma, carpal tunnel syndrome, Dupuytrens disease, arthritis, arthroscopy, joint replacement, nerve/tendon transfers, complex revision surgeries, and sports related injuries to the upper extremity.

Dr. Chambers began his academic career at Georgia Tech, where he earned his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering with highest honors.  While on scholarship, he received his medical degree from Mercer University in Savannah, GA. In his junior year he was one of three students elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and graduated in the top 1% of his class. He completed his orthopedic residency at the world-renowned Campbell Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee. During residency, he had the opportunity to learn from leaders in the field of orthopedic surgery and provided care for the Memphis Redbirds, Rhodes University, Memphis Grizzlies, and several area high school teams. He then completed additional training at University of Pittsburgh under the guidance of Dr. Mark Baratz. He focused on the entire upper extremity from the shoulder to fingertips as well as microvascular training.

Dr. Chambers is a resident member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and a candidate member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand (ASSH). He has authored multiple journal articles, book chapters, and has given presentations throughout the country.

Evan W. James, MD

Sports Medicine

Dr. Evan James is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and shoulder surgery. He attended the University of Notre Dame for college, where he majored in Biology and received the Braco Award for Excellence in Cell Biology Research. Dr. James completed medical school at the University of Minnesota, and spent an additional year performing complex knee and sports medicine research at the prestigious Steadman-Philippon Research Institute in Vail, Colorado. Dr. James then completed his surgical internship, orthopedic surgery residency, and fellowship in sports medicine and shoulder surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, ranked the #1 orthopedic hospital in the nation by U.S. News and World Report. During his training, Dr. James served as an assistant team physician for multiple professional and collegiate sports teams, including the New York Giants, New York Red Bulls, and Iona College.

Dr. James has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed scientific research papers and book chapters published in top journals in orthopedic surgery, including the American Journal of Sports Medicine, Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Arthroscopy, and Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has presented research at numerous national and international meetings. As a surgical resident, he was awarded the Thomas L. Wickiewicz, MD Research Grant for research pertaining to patellofemoral instability.

Dr. James has specific clinical interests in treating ligament tears of the knee, meniscus injuries, rotator cuff tears, shoulder labrum tears and arthritis, and hip femoroacetabular impingement and labral tears.

Bradley H. Saitta, MD

Spine Surgery

Dr. Saitta grew up in Winston-Salem, NC prior to moving to Philadelphia, PA.  He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wake Forest University with honors in biology.  He then completed medical school at Temple University, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and awarded the John Lachman award for excellence in orthopedics.  Dr. Saitta completed his orthopedic residency at The University of Chicago.  He then returned to The Tarheel State to subspecialize in spine surgery, training at the renowned OrthoCarolina Spine Center in Charlotte, NC.

Dr. Saitta’s areas of expertise include degenerative and deformity conditionals of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine.  He has a particular interest in minimally invasive and motion preserving surgical options, and is also skilled in the management of complex revision spine surgery.  Dr. Saitta has authored and co-authored several peer reviewed articles and serves as a reviewer for the Global Spine Journal.  He is a member of AO Spine, and completed their Global Spine Diploma program.
