Raleigh Orthopaedic Workers Compensation
Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic provides high quality orthopaedic care for many injured workers. The Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic Workers’ Compensation Care and Industrial Rehabilitation programs are designed to ensure that our patients get the orthopaedic services they need to return to work in a safe and expedient manner while providing high quality care.
We understand that accessibility and communication are critical to the successful treatment and rehabilitation of the injured worker. Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic has designated workers' compensation staff members to assist with the necessary communication, and to serve as a liaison between our physicians and the insurance companies, case managers, employers, and the patients. Our team of workers’ compensation professionals will make authorized appointments, work to obtain timely authorization for diagnostic tests and surgeries, and are willing to take your calls to make the referral process as smooth as possible.
In order to better help us serve you, please review the following information regarding the workers’ compensation referral process:
Workers’ Compensation Appointments
To request a workers' compensation appointment with one of Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic doctors, we ask that the employer or insurance carrier to complete the workers' compensation information sheet. Please email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or fax (919-863-6809) the completed form to our Workers’ Compensation Appointment Specialist. Once the form is received, we will contact the requesting party to schedule an appointment at a convenient time.
For questions or concerns regarding workers’ compensation appointments, please contact our Workers’ Compensation Appointment Specialist at: (919) 863-6863.
Independent Medical Exams (IME) and 2nd Opinions
Occasionally an Independent Medical Exam or Second Opinion is necessary to provide the appropriate treatment to the injured worker. A “special exam” is required, if the patient’s date of injury exceeds two months and they have been treated by another specialist (orthopaedist, neurologist, neurosurgeon, physiatrist, podiatrist, etc.). The injured worker’s medical records will be reviewed prior to scheduling an appointment.
To expedite this process, please complete the workers' compensation information sheet, and email (email@example.com) or fax (919-863-6809) the completed form to the Workers’ Compensation Coordinator. In addition, please forward all relevant medical records for the physician to review. You may mail the medical records to the attention to the Workers’ Compensation Coordinator at the following address:
Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic
3001 Edwards Mill Road, Suite 200
Raleigh, NC 27612
If the medical records are less than 30 pages, you may fax them to: 919-863-6809. If the physician agrees to see the patient, the requesting party will receive a pre-pay statement that indicates which physician has agreed to perform the exam, and the fee for that service. Once the payment is received in our office, our Workers’ Compensation Coordinator will contact you to arrange an appointment at a convenient time. If the physician denies the exam, the requesting party will be notified.
For questions or concerns regarding IME’s or 2nd opinions, please contact our Workers’ Compensation Coordinator at (919) 863-6984.
The key to a timely plan of care is persistence. Our team will actively attempt to obtain authorization for any procedure, diagnostic test or surgery the Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic provider recommended. As the injured worker, you can assist us in this process by contacting the adjuster, case manager and/or attorney within one week of your appointment. Please let them know that your doctor has ordered further treatment, and they will need to email our Workers’ Compensation Coordinator (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more information or to give authorization to proceed with scheduling.
For questions or concerns regarding the authorization status, please contact our Workers Compensation Coordinator at (919) 863-6863.
