Neil C. Vining, MD
Dr. Vining is a board certified, fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon with a sub-specialization in pediatric surgery. His pediatric practice focuses on Ponseti management of clubfoot, hip dysplasia, limb deformity and pediatric trauma. In addition, prior to his sub-specialty training, Dr. Vining had a busy military practice focused on adult orthopaedic trauma and sports injuries and continues to provide care to the adult population as well as children.
Dr. Vining completed his undergraduate degree at Campbell University, summa cum laude, and Medical School at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, with Highest Honors. He completed his orthopaedic residency at Madigan Army Medical Center and the University of Washington / Harborview Medical Center. Immediately following his residency, Dr. Vining spent three years as a military orthopaedic surgeon at the trauma evacuation hospital in Germany which provided immediate surgical care for all wounded soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. During his time at Landstuhl , Dr. Vining provided trauma surgical care for hundreds of injured soldiers. Dr. Vining was deployed with the 212th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital in Muzafarabad, Pakistan for three months, and again, in June of 2007, for seven months with the 160th Forward Surgical Team in Asadabad, Afghanistan. After returning, Dr. Vining was the Assistant Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery at Winn Army Community Hospital, where he practiced general orthopaedic surgery with a focus on sports related injuries. He concluded a 22 year military career in 2010, and prior to joining Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic completed a pediatric orthopaedic fellowship at Seattle Children's Hospital.
