Raleigh Orthopaedic Surgeons Inducted into Academy
John B. Chiavetta, MD, Kevin J. Logel, MD and Harrison G. Tuttle, MD of Raleigh, NC, were inducted as fellows of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) on February 25, 2009, during ceremonies at the Academy’s 2009 Annual Meeting in Las Vegas.
Drs. Chiavetta, Logel and Tuttle were three of 667 new members inducted. The AAOS has 35,256 members worldwide. Drs. Chiavetta, Logel and Tuttle are fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeons at Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic.
Dr. Chiavetta attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for undergraduate training and medical school. He completed his internship and residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Following his residency, Dr. Chiavetta obtained addition training in Total Hip and Knee Replacement and Revision Surgery at Presbyterian Orthopaedic Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina. Dr. Chiavetta joined Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic in 2005.
Dr. Logel attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for both undergraduate and medical school. He completed his internship and residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Utah Hospital. A fellowship in Foot and Ankle Reconstruction followed at the Union Memorial/ Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Logel joined Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic in 2007.
Dr. Tuttle graduated from both college and medical school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He then completed his internship and residency at the University of Vermont College of Medicine in Burlington, Vermont. He was selected for a hand and microvascular surgery fellowship at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Tuttle joined Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic in 2005.
The Academy is the largest medical association for musculoskeletal specialist. Its fellows have completed medical school, plus at least five years of specialty study in orthopaedics in an accredited residency program, passed a comprehensive oral and written examination, and have been certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.
