Dr. Hadley Callaway Completes Term as North Carolina Medical Society President

RALEIGH, N.C. - Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic’s surgeon G. Hadley Callaway, M.D., completed his one year term of presidency with the North Carolina Medical Society (NCMS) on Saturday, October 18, 2008. Dr. Callaway served as the 154th and youngest president of the NCMS. Following in the footsteps of Dr. Tom Dameron, also of Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic, Dr. Callaway is one of three orthopaedists to serve in this position.

Dr. Callaway’s primary focus throughout his presidency was to help assure the highest quality of healthcare in North Carolina. He worked with the North Carolina Medical Board to change the way malpractice information is posted on its website, so that disciplined doctors are easier to identify. Dr. Callaway also prioritized mental health proposals that became the basis for recent legislative changes. Under Dr. Callaway’s leadership, the Medical Society worked to establish new expertise in three areas: medical staff independence, facility regulation and physician-hospital joint ventures.
