Physician Assistants

An important part of the Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic healthcare team is the Physician Assistants (PA's). To become a Certified Physician Assistant they must complete 100 hours of Continuing Education (CEU) course every two years and take re-certfication exam every six years, and these licensed health professionals practice medicine under the supervision of the ROC physicians and perform many of the same functions. They conduct patient examinations, diagnose conditions, develop and carry out treatment plans, order and interpret laboratory tests and x-ray studies, apply braces and splints, assist in surgery, provide preventive health care counseling and write prescriptions.
At ROC, physician assistants each have an assigned supervising physician. With their guidance, the Physician Assistants provide a wide variety of health care services. As part of the physician/PA health care team, a physician assistant exercises autonomy in diagnosing and treating orthopaedic conditions and injuries.
The PA's at Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic have certification in a broad range of areas including primary care and surgery.
