Workers Compensation
Raleigh Orthopaedic Clinic provides high quality care for many injured workers and has dedicated staff to assist with the necessary communication. Maria Nino, WC Test Scheduler, oversees the communication regarding treatment of injured workers who are referred to ROC, and serves as a liaison between physicians and the insurance companies, case managers, employers and patients.
Maria also coordinates the 2nd Opinions and Independent Medical Evaluations.
The ultimate goal of the ROC Workers Comp care and Industrial Rehabilitation programs are to ensure that ROC patients get the services they need to return to work in a safe and expedient manner while providing quality care.

Workers Comp Appointments Scheduling
Workers Compensation appointments should be initiated by the Employer or Insurance Carrier. Please complete the WC Information Sheet and email to Donna Knott.

IME's & 2nd Opinions
A “Special Exam” is needed when the patient’s date of injury exceeds 2 months AND they have been treated by another specialist (orthopaedist, neurologist, neurosurgeon, physiatrist, podiatrist, etc.). The physician will review the medical records prior to an appointment being made.

Please forward the Medical Records for physician review. They can be mailed or faxed, (please no faxes over 30 pages). If the physician declines the exam, you will be notified. If the physician agrees, you will receive a pre-pay statement that indicates which physician has agreed to perform the exam, and the fee for that exam. One the pre-payment is received in our office, you will receive an Appointments Notification.

Authorization Status
The key to a timely plan of care is persistence. Our team will actively attempt to get your procedure authorized, however, you can assist us in this process by contacting your adjuster, case manager and / or attorney within one week of your appointment. Please let them know that your doctor has ordered further treatment and to email Maria Nino for more information or to give authorization to proceed with scheduling.
