Hand Therapy Splint of the Month - January 2008
Anterior Elbow Splint
Purpose:
To maintain elbow in a comfortable extended position to decrease pressure on the ulnar nerve which can occur with sustained or repetitive elbow flexion.
To correct flexion contracture with long, sustained stretch in maximal extension.
Diagnoses:
1.Cubital Tunnel Syndrome
2.Elbow flexion contractures
Advantages:
Custom molded and light weight for increased comfort and compliance
Velfoam straps may be used for increased comfort at night
Removable splint allows for daily hygiene of body part or altered wearing schedule
